Enrich and Extend

Our school is committed to providing rich, data‑driven extension opportunities that deepen thinking, broaden understanding, and nurture the unique gifts and talents of every student.

These programs sit on top of the regular classroom curriculum and are designed to challenge, inspire, and extend learners beyond the standard scope of classroom activities. We recognise that every child is uniquely created and gifted.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
— Colossians 3:23

These extension opportunities encourage students to honour their God‑given abilities through diligence, curiosity, and excellence.

Students may be invited or may choose to participate in a range of extension experiences, including:

  • Maths Extension — advanced problem‑solving, higher‑order reasoning, and deep mathematical thinking;
  • Competitions — academic challenges that stretch capable learners;
  • Literacy Extension — sophisticated comprehension, analysis, and creative tasks;
  • Writer’s Workshop — developing voice, craft, and expressive skill;
  • Eisteddfod Entries — opportunities to showcase artistic and performance talents.

These opportunities are designed to extend, not replace, core classroom learning. They allow students to explore concepts at greater depth, engage in complex tasks, and develop advanced skills in areas where they show aptitude or interest.

Student Responsibility and High Expectations

Because these programs are additional to regular classroom learning, students are expected to:

  • Maintain high standards in all classroom work and behaviour;
  • Manage their time effectively, including completing catch‑up tasks when required;
  • Balance extension activities with their core learning responsibilities.

Participation in extension is a privilege that reflects a student’s readiness for challenge. It is not intended to detract from essential classroom learning but to enhance and enrich it.
